If there is one
thing in this world that I hate it is fake virus warnings and e-mail
hoaxes. You know the kind, they usually say something like "IBM
have announced a new virus, even more deadly than ILOVEYOU. This virus
will wipe your hard disk, kidnap your children and burn down your house"
or something like that.
They get everyone
panicking, clog up mail servers eventually crashing them causing company
wide disruption (consider you get a virus warning, you send it to everyone
in your friends and colleagues mail list, say 60 people. Each of those
60 people send it to 60 people, who send it to 60 people it suddenly
is quickly out of control!!! 4 users down the line it has gone to over
12960000 people in about 10 minutes!)
So the purpose
of this page is to help identify the fakes from the real ones. Everytime
I receive a e-mail warning I will investigate and post the results
here.
